Alt text quality
Why it matters
Alt text should describe what an image shows. File names like ‘IMG_1234.jpg’ say nothing, and very long alt texts overwhelm screen-reader users.
How to fix it
- Describe the content or purpose of each image in under about 125 characters.
- Use alt="" for purely decorative images.
Check it with
- Image Alt Text Checker – Find images with missing alt text, missing dimensions and no lazy loading.
Scoring: a passed check earns its full weight, a warning half and an error none. How the SEO score works
