UTM Campaign URL Builder
Build tagged campaign URLs for Google Analytics with UTM parameters.
About the UTM Campaign URL Builder
UTM parameters are tags added to a link so Google Analytics knows exactly where a visit came from – which newsletter, which social post, which ad. Without them, traffic from email apps and some social platforms shows up as “direct”, and you cannot tell which campaigns work.
Fill in the fields to build a tagged URL. Keep values lowercase and consistent (“facebook”, not sometimes “Facebook” and sometimes “fb”), because analytics treats different spellings as different sources. Use UTMs on links from other channels to your site – never on internal links between your own pages.
Frequently asked questions
Which UTM parameters are required?
utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. utm_term and utm_content are optional for distinguishing keywords and ad variations.
Do UTM parameters hurt SEO?
Not if they are only used on external campaign links and your pages have canonical tags pointing to the clean URL.
Which mediums does GA4 recognise?
GA4’s default channel grouping recognises values such as email, social, cpc, paid, display, affiliate, referral and organic. Using these puts traffic in the right channel.
