Domain Age Checker
Find out exactly how old a domain is and when it was first registered.
About the Domain Age Checker
Domain age is the time since a domain was registered. It is a quick way to judge how established a site is, to sanity-check a domain before buying it, or to spot a brand-new domain behind a suspicious email.
Is domain age a ranking factor? Google has said it is not used directly. Older sites tend to rank better because they have had longer to earn links, build content and gain trust – not because of the date itself. This checker reads the registration date from the official registry via RDAP.
Frequently asked questions
Does domain age affect SEO?
Not directly, according to Google. What matters is the content, links and reputation a site has built over time.
Should I buy an old domain for SEO?
Only if its history is clean and relevant. An expired domain with spammy past use can carry problems, and Google’s spam policies target “expired domain abuse”.
Why is the age different from the Wayback Machine?
If a domain lapsed and was re-registered, the registration date resets, while archives may show much older versions of the site.
