SSL Certificate Checker
Check an SSL/TLS certificate’s validity, expiry date, issuer, hostnames and protocol.
About the SSL Certificate Checker
An SSL/TLS certificate lets browsers connect to your site over HTTPS and proves the site is really yours. If it expires, does not cover the hostname or is missing an intermediate certificate, visitors see a full-page security warning and most will leave.
This checker connects to your server on port 443 and reports whether the certificate is trusted, which hostnames it covers, who issued it, when it expires, the full chain and the TLS version and cipher in use. Free certificates from Let’s Encrypt last 90 days, so automatic renewal is essential.
Frequently asked questions
Is a free SSL certificate as good as a paid one?
For encryption, yes. Free certificates (Let’s Encrypt, ZeroSSL, Cloudflare) provide the same encryption as paid ones. Paid certificates may add organisation validation or warranties.
Does HTTPS help SEO?
Yes. HTTPS is a lightweight Google ranking signal, and Chrome marks HTTP pages as “Not secure”, which hurts trust and conversions.
Why does my certificate work in Chrome but not on some devices?
Usually a missing intermediate certificate. Desktop browsers can sometimes fetch it themselves; other clients cannot. Install the full chain on the server.
