Readability Checker
Score how easy your text is to read with Flesch, Flesch-Kincaid, Gunning Fog and more.
About the Readability Checker
Readable writing keeps visitors on the page, helps them act and makes your content easier for search engines and AI assistants to summarise. Readability formulas estimate how hard text is from sentence length and word length.
This checker calculates six standard scores – Flesch Reading Ease, Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level, Gunning Fog, SMOG, Coleman-Liau and the Automated Readability Index – and lists your longest sentences so you know exactly what to shorten. For most web content, aim for a Flesch score above 60 (roughly grade 8–9). The formulas are designed for English. It runs entirely in your browser.

Not directly, but clear writing improves engagement and comprehension, which supports the goals Google rewards.
How do I improve my score?
Use shorter sentences, everyday words, active voice and subheadings. Split any sentence over about 25 words.
