URL Slug Generator

Turn titles into clean, SEO-friendly URL slugs.

About the URL Slug Generator

A slug is the part of a URL that identifies a specific page, like best-coffee-grinders in example.com/blog/best-coffee-grinders. Good slugs are short, readable, lowercase and use hyphens between words. Readers can see what the page is about before clicking, and descriptive words in URLs are a small relevance signal.

Paste one or many titles to get clean slugs instantly: accents are converted (é → e), symbols removed, “&” becomes “and” and stop words can optionally be stripped. Google treats hyphens as word separators but not underscores, so hyphens are the default.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include dates or years in slugs?

Avoid them for content you will update, so the URL stays accurate. Put the year in the title instead.

Should I change old slugs?

Only with a 301 redirect from the old URL, and only if the gain is real. Changing URLs temporarily disrupts rankings.

How long should a slug be?

Three to five meaningful words is ideal. Shorter slugs are easier to share and less likely to be truncated.
