Page Size Checker
Find the total weight of a page and which images, scripts and styles are heaviest.
About the Page Size Checker
Every kilobyte a page needs has to be downloaded, decoded and processed – which costs time on slow mobile connections and money on metered data plans. The median web page now weighs well over 2 MB, with images and JavaScript making up most of it.
This checker downloads the page HTML and checks the size of every stylesheet, script, image and preloaded font it references, then totals them by type and lists the heaviest files first. Large images are usually the quickest win: resize them to the size they are displayed at and convert them to WebP or AVIF.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good page size?
Under about 1.5 MB is a reasonable target for most pages, and the lighter the better on mobile. Focus first on the largest files.
Does page size affect SEO?
Indirectly. Heavier pages load slower, which affects Core Web Vitals and user behaviour. Google also stops processing HTML after the first 15 MB.
Why is the size different from Chrome DevTools?
DevTools includes everything loaded by JavaScript after the page starts, such as ads, analytics and lazy-loaded images. This tool measures what the HTML references directly.
