SERP Snippet Preview

Preview your title and description in Google on desktop and mobile, with pixel widths.

About the SERP Snippet Preview

Google does not cut titles off at a fixed number of characters. It cuts them off by width in pixels – about 600 px for titles on desktop and roughly 920 px (two lines) for descriptions. A title full of wide letters such as “W” and “M” is truncated sooner than one with narrow letters like “i” and “l”.

This preview measures your text with the same font Google uses and shows where the ellipsis would appear on desktop and mobile. It updates as you type, so you can rework a title until the important words all fit. It runs in your browser – nothing is sent to our servers.

Frequently asked questions

How many pixels does Google allow for a title?

Around 580–600 pixels on desktop. Titles longer than that are shortened with “…”. Mobile results can show slightly more because titles can wrap onto two lines.

Will Google always show my title?

Not always. Google rewrites titles that are too long, stuffed with keywords or that do not match the page. Accurate, concise titles are rewritten far less often.

Should I include my brand name?

Usually yes, at the end and separated by a pipe or dash (e.g. “Running Shoes for Flat Feet | Acme”). Google may also show your site name separately above the title.
