Accessibility
ARIA usage
Why it matters
ARIA changes how assistive technology announces elements. An invalid role is ignored, and aria-hidden on focusable elements creates focus stops that screen readers cannot describe. Incorrect ARIA is worse than none (WCAG 4.1.2).
How to fix it
- Use only valid WAI-ARIA roles, and prefer native HTML elements.
- Never put aria-hidden="true" on links, buttons or fields, or containers that hold them, unless they are also made inert.
