Autoplaying media
Why it matters
Audio that starts automatically talks over screen readers and is distracting for everyone. WCAG 1.4.2 requires a way to stop audio that plays for more than three seconds.
How to fix it
- Do not autoplay media with sound.
- If a background video must autoplay, add the muted attribute and controls to pause it.
