Empty headings

Why it matters

Screen-reader users often navigate by headings. Empty heading tags, usually used for spacing, create stops that announce nothing.

How to fix it

1. Remove empty heading elements, or give them text.
2. Use CSS margins for spacing instead of empty tags.

Check it with

• Heading Structure Checker – See the H1–H6 outline of any page and spot missing or skipped headings.

Scoring: a passed check earns its full weight, a warning half and an error none. How the SEO score works
