About the AI Alt Text Generator
Alt text describes an image for people who use screen readers and for search engines, which cannot see pictures. Good alt text makes your site accessible, helps your images appear in Google Images and gives search engines more context about the page. Missing alt text is also one of the most common accessibility failures.
Enter a page URL and this generator finds the images with missing, empty or weak alt text (such as file names like “IMG_2041.jpg”), looks at each image with an AI vision model, and writes a short, specific description that fits the page – up to 8 images at a time. You can also enter the URL of a single image. You get the current and suggested alt text side by side, a copy button for each, and ready-to-paste HTML. If the site’s AI model cannot see images, the suggestions are based on file names and the surrounding text, and the results say so.
Frequently asked questions
How long should alt text be?
Usually one short sentence – under about 125 characters. Describe what matters in the image for this page, not every detail.
Should every image have alt text?
Every image needs an alt attribute. Informative images need a description; purely decorative images (dividers, backgrounds) should use an empty alt="" so screen readers skip them.
Should I put keywords in alt text?
Only when they describe the image naturally. Stuffing keywords into alt text does not help rankings and makes the page worse for screen reader users.
