On-page SEO
Indexability
Why it matters
A noindex directive in a robots meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header removes the page from search results. It is a common cause of pages disappearing after a site launch or redesign.
How to fix it
- Remove “noindex” from pages that should appear in search.
- Check both the HTML robots meta tag and the X-Robots-Tag HTTP header.
- Keep noindex only for pages you deliberately want out of search (thank-you pages, internal search).
Check it with
- HTTP Headers Checker – View all HTTP response headers for a URL, with notes on the ones that matter for SEO.
- Meta Tags Analyzer – Check the title, description, robots, canonical and every other meta tag on a page.
Scoring: a passed check earns its full weight, a warning half and an error none. How the SEO score works
